Fine Foundation Gallery

The Fine Foundation Gallery

The Fine Foundation Gallery, at Durlston Castle, offers an ever-changing year-round programme of exhibitions and events.

From exhibitions of fine art or contemporary craft, by artists and makers from all over the country, to scientific or historical exhibitions, every month brings something new.

Many exhibitions explore the wildlife, geology and history of Durlston and the Jurassic Coast or showcase the work of artists and makers working locally.

The Gallery is a stunning contemporary space, designed by MJ Long and supported by the Fine Foundation, which boasts spectacular sea views.

With superb acoustics, a concert-hall quality sound system, and high quality projector and screen, the Gallery is also a superb venue for live music, theatre or performance.

Highlights this summer include a showcase of Dorset artists, specially curated for Dorset Art Weeks, exploring Dorset's wildlife and landscape and the challenges they face, unique, vibrant paintings by Josh Hollingshead exploring world cultures and politics, 'Convergence', an exhibition of new work by the twenty3 collective inspired by Durlston's landscape, history, wildlife and people, and many more.

Music and film also take pride of place with September showcasing the Purbeck Chamber Music Festival and during October we host films during the Purbeck Film Festival.

See the next exhibition programme on our events page.

Durlston is a flagship venue for the Purbeck Film Festival in October, showcasing a wonderful variety of films as part of this, the largest rural festival in the country.

An exhibition and workshops accompany the festival.

The Cabinet of Living Cinema also regularly offer cinematic experiences, accompanied by live music.
