Apologies for the late diary this morning, we were without power all morning as SSE did some maintenance work. Now to see how much I remember of this morning.

I head out towards 10a where the cows are currently residing, yet again, hopefully they haven’t made another great escape overnight. Above the mile markers there’s a patch work of wildflowers. The large white flowering heads of Wild Carrot tower over the lower lying Red Clover, there flower heads a deep purple red colour. Winding its way around the bottom Birds Foot Trefoil can be seen and identified by its bright yellow flowers. The flowering stems of Agrimony now gone to seed line the edge of the path, while yellow fluffy Crosswort can be seen coming from the ground in little clouds.

A charm of Goldfinch bounce overhead coming to land in a patch of Thistles before quickly taking off again and heading down into the gully. Near the demonstration quar, Fleabane and Greater Knap Weed can be seen in flower. The flower of the Fleabane a bright sunshine yellow contrasting against the deep purple of the Greater Knap Weed.

On the bank of the light house road the buzzing of Bees hard at work collecting pollen from, Honey Suckle and Bramble flowers, fills the air with a pleasant humming sound. Further along Butterflies appear form either side. A Marbled White Butterfly lazily flutters past, as a Gate Keeper come to land on a Bramble flower.

At the gate into field 10a, all the Hereford Cattle are flopped out on the grass, some chewing the cud and others sound asleep, a very sweet sight to see. Thankfully they are all safe and sound and where they are supposed to be this morning.

Heading back, the sound of the Stone Chat emanates form a patch of scrub as I pass though the bid itself can’t be seen. A Six Spot Burnet Moth perches atop a Greater Knapweed, while the blur of red wings alerts be to another passing.
