Last nights bird boat was made rather more challenged due to the wind a yacht race. One stubborn and determine sailor cut very close to the rear of the boat. Despite this or Skipper still delivered views on a Puffin upon the sea (as well as regular seabirds).

Within the bare branches of sick looming Buddleia, a Great Tit pair and a Chiff Chaff paused. Trills from a hidden Wren were broadcast. Yellow “pom, pom” flowers of Hops Vetch were path side.  The first purple petals had emerged upon a Woolly Thistle flower. A Skylark, Carrion Crow and Jackdaws were active over the downland. One Whitethroat was heard then seen after it descended from one of the Mile Markers. Today the structures enabled the strong breeze to whistle. Below Bee Orchids were still holding flowers. Eventually, I found a Yellow Wort flower core, only needing to splay its petals. Small Puff Ball fungi were in the short turf near the cliff tops. Looking over the edge, above Tilly Whim’s wave cut platform, white Sea Campion, pink Thrift, and Valerian provided colour. Today there were plenty of Guillemot in the cave ledge and upon the sea. Spiralling from the sea the reach the cliff face, came a Shag.  Wings held in a “v” shape were those of a Feral Dove.

Another Shag headed west past the Gully mouth along with several Herring Gulls and Guillemots. Below the Lighthouse a Fulmar headed west whilst upon land Carrot Broomrape was amongst Wild Carrot, Rock Samphire, and a bounty of Kidney Vetch. Gladioli plum-coloured blooms were noticeable upon the green. Eyebright, Wild Thyme, and Horseshoe Vetch decorated the short sward.

I flushed Jackdaws and a Carrion Crow on my way to check to the cattle. Hereford Cattle were ruminating and were sat amongst flatten Thistles and grasses. I ad to check the water trough as it appears a visitor had turned the trough off. I flushed a Cock Pheasant before seeing the full trough. On my way back I heard a Greenfinch and enjoyed Dog Rose blooms, to my side and above head heigh, hosted by Old Mans Beard and Blackthorn. White Southern Marsh Orchids were noted in Saxon North.
