As I head towards the meadow, I spot a White Throat singing his heart out from the top of a Sycamore. Flowering Elder lines the path to towards the large copse. Even this early in the morning its warm, with the current temperature 22.5 and highs of 28.8 yesterday. The shade of the copse is a welcome brief relief.
In taskers a cloud of Meadow Brown Butterfly burst up from long grass. They chase each other around dark, brown wings with orange wing tips with a black dot in the middle making them easily recognisable.
In saxon Skylarks sing high up in the sky, wing beating as fast as they can to keep themselves situated in one spot. Eventually relenting and diving back down to the ground for a rest. At the edge of the path a couple of Pyramidal Orchids are just starting to burst into flower. While Birds Foot Trefoil creeps its way around the shorter turf some bright yellow while others are a dark shade of red.
A sea of Oxeye Daisies covers oxeye meadow, all flowers tilted towards the sun. An Adonis Blue Butterfly flutters past and comes to rest on a Kidney Vetch flower and opens its bright blue wings.
Over the sleeper bridge which is flanked by Dog Rose in full bloom like something out of a fairy tale. A Speckled Wood Butterfly flutters silently by.
I head down the cliffs where Tamarisk is covered in pale pink fluffy flowers. Two Shags fly level with the cliff tops heading east. The sea below was full of Guillemots all taking a rest and preening themselves on the water. The cliff ledge seemed not quite as crowded as usual due to the large number of birds on the water. The sound of them chatting and squabbling amongst themselves was just as loud though.
