A breezy morning today meant I was followed my whole way by the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind. A Sycamore tree leaves seemed to be turning slightly brown and have a sort of white waxy coating on them I assumed it was probably due to the lake of rain recently. The south first meadow I came to could also be seen to be feeling the effects of the lack of rain. Everything is looking brown and dry apart from the bursts of colour provided by the Wild Carrot and Knapweed.
As I walked along, I was started as a Herring Gull swooped past me at head hight only a meter away. It then headed to wards the quarry seeming to be struggling against the wind
In oxeye meadow to Stonechat wear perched on top of Hawthorn before taking flights and heading inland. Further along a Goldfinch was perched on a blade of grass that seemed to struggle under its weight.
Looking up over the hills a dog and their owner were out for an early run. While I passed a patch of Yellow Rattle that had gone to seed and was lightly rattling in the wind. Walking through to the field the cows are now in. They have littered the path with cow pats and crashed there way through some of the longer grass creating little paths. While I walked to the other end of the field to see the cows two Carin Crows were sat on top of the hill looking out over the lighthouse, as I approached, they took flight off over towards the lighthouse. When I got to the other end of the field and found the cows, I noticed a group of Jackdaws of 10 individuals following the cows as they moved along the field feeding. They were probably hoping the cows would disturb some nice bugs for them to eat.
Along the lighthouse road I noticed some Clematis that was now in fruit with bright red shinny bunches of berries. Looking out to sea from the lighthouse two sailing boats could be seen quietly floating past on the calm water. While a Shag flew past close to the water heading towards the castle.
